Yes, it is a business. We choose this business for many different reasons - so that we can be at home with our own children; to supplement the income of our partner; because the income is greater than we could earn outside the home; or - well, each and every reason is is an individual decision. However, because of the nature of this business, and because we are ultimately responsible for sharing in the creation of a foundation for vulnerable young futures and lives, we tend to give of ourselves and our time over and above what we would give in any other profession.
